We want every patient to come to their dental visit with absolute peace of mind that everything in our office, right down to the very air they breathe, meets even the most rigorous of patient health and infection control standards.

Your Child's First Visit

Your<br title='b11'> child's first dental visit will be a positive one.One of the most important things that Everwell Dentistry wants you to remember is those baby teeth are just as important as permanent adult teeth. Without these teeth, your child wouldn’t be able to eat or speak well. The baby teeth also hold space for adult teeth as they develop. Taking care of baby teeth can drastically improve your child’s smile later on. We want to help you and your family in every way possible, from start to finish.

When to Schedule Your Child's First Visit

Because of how important these teeth are to your child, we recommend that you come in for the first time within six months of your child’s first tooth erupting. Otherwise, we advise you not to put it off beyond their first birthday. Generally speaking, when a baby is born, there are about 20 teeth developing under the surface of their gums. Within six to twelve months, their front teeth will begin breaking through the surface. These twenty teeth should be erupted fully by the time your son or daughter is about three years old. Coming in early means that we can see your child when he/she has no dental problems. Waiting for an emergency to occur before coming in can have more complicated consequences later on.

What Happens During Your Child's First Visit

Coming in for that first visit will entail several processes. We will start by having a discussion with you after a general examination of their mouth, ensuring that everything is as it should be. This conversation includes finding the best diet for your child as well as discussing the correct method with which to clean and care for their budding teeth. We can also discuss what fluoride treatments and cleaning materials we recommend. We will set up a starting ground, which we can follow from that point on. This is because your first visit situates our office as your child’s “home” office. Then, as you bring them back year after year, we can get to know your child and their needs in conjunction with the rest of your family, and keep detailed records of each visit.

We will also perform a cleaning of your child’s teeth. We will do an examination to look for decay, similar to how we do with adults. We will also look to see if your child is at risk of problems associated with thumb sucking, which can be common. If we deem them a good option for your child, we may also provide fluoride treatment or dental sealants to prevent decay.

Each child is different, and Everwell Dentistry is here to guide your child’s care based entirely on his or her individual needs. Not every first visit will be the same, but starting early is key in providing your child with a long future of healthy teeth. If you have any questions on when it is time to bring your child in for a preliminary check-up, give us a call today. We would be more than happy to discuss your options with you.
The first step to a healthy beautiful smile is to schedule an appointment.
