Ann Arbor MI

Veneers before and after.Everwell Dentistry is very proud of our work in cosmetic dentistry as well as our plethora of options for restorative work. One of our many options for cosmetic dentistry is dental veneers! These are great options for many people, and our expert dental team can handle anything and everything you could ask when it comes to this state of the art procedure. If you are feeling dissatisfied with your smile, give us a call today, and we can set up a consultation for you with our experienced dentists to get you that radiance you have always dreamed of.

What Is a Veneer?

A veneer is a porcelain piece that can be cemented over your teeth to hide discoloration or chips or cracks on your tooth’s surface. Veneers can repair spacing, ever so slight misalignment, and problems with the coloring of your teeth.

How Do They Work?

Dental veneers color matching. If you would like veneers, and we agree that it is a safe option for you, we will buff down about a half a millimeter of your teeth to give space for the new pieces. We will then take an impression of the teeth that you would like repaired. Then, those impressions are sent to a dental lab where they will make your porcelain pieces to exactly cover your teeth. After about two weeks, when those pieces arrive, you will return, and they will be bonded to your teeth using a special dental adhesive.

Does it Hurt?

We take every precaution to prevent you from experiencing any pain. Often, anesthetics are not required, but since we do have to file down your teeth slightly, a local anesthetic may be used, generally a topical ointment and novocaine.

What Happens After the Procedure?

There are commonly slight changes with your teeth in the two weeks following the end of the procedure, such as changes in shape and size. However, these veneers are highly resistant to staining, so with proper care will likely remain nearly as white as the day you got them! Veneers last around 10 to 15 years, give or take. However, it is important that you continue taking care of them like you would natural teeth. They are just as susceptible to damage, and if you smoke, drink heavily, or partake in other habits that can weaken your natural teeth, this may shorten the lifespan of your shiny new veneers.

Veneers are an excellent option for many with mild cosmetic issues with their teeth. Everwell Dentistry can answer all of your veneer questions, and can help you formulate a plan for the best cosmetic enhancements to restore (or to give you) that Hollywood standard smile you have always dreamed of! While not everyone is a viable candidate for veneers, we can help you to find a different solution if that is the case.
The first step to a healthy beautiful smile is to schedule an appointment.
