Invisalign

Woman smiling holding Invisalign alignerEverwell Dentistry knows that in adulthood, image matters. This is what stops many adults from pursuing braces to enhance their smile. It just isn't the same to walk into a job interview with a mouth full of metal as it is to walk into school, is it? This is why we offer new Invisalign® an alternative to other orthodontic treatments such as, typical metal and adhesive braces. This may be a better option for those working in the corporate world, or those who just don't have the time for the hassle of traditional braces. Give us a call today to see if you can take advantage of this new product.

Invisalign® vs. Braces

There are many key differences between Invisalign® realigning trays and traditional braces. Traditional braces are composed of wires and brackets all made of metal that adheres to your teeth. Then, over time, the wires are tightened, and your teeth shift and realign themselves to improve your smile and your bite.

Invisalign® works differently. After an in-depth record is made of your mouth, including digital x-rays of your teeth, jaw, palette, and skull, along with impressions made of each and every tooth, the records are sent to a company that makes individual trays that fit and cover every tooth. These trays are replaced frequently, and over time, your teeth realign themselves in much the same way that traditional braces do. Instead of wire and brackets, your teeth are covered by a plastic shell that is difficult to notice.

Do I Qualify for Invisalign®?

As great of an option as Invisalign® is, not everyone is a prime candidate for it. If your teeth are severely misaligned, or you have a large over- or under-bite, you may have to stick with traditional braces. Each case is strictly unique and on an individual basis.

How Long Does Invisalign® Take?

Since you wear Invisalign® all day, every day (apart from eating), it is another case of depends on the person. You could wear them for six months, or you could wear them for two years. It all depends on the individual person.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

Invisalign® is designed as a series of trays. When you go to get your first set, we will stick little hard pieces onto four key teeth on the top and the bottom rows of your natural teeth (if you are getting top and bottom realigned, otherwise just one set of four). Then, the trays will snap into place. They will feel a little snug at first, and that is entirely okay. Then you continue through a series of trays that will gently and slowly realign your teeth.

Invisalign® is a great Cosmetic Dentistry option for many people, especially in the adult commercial world. It is not as well-known as traditional braces are, but we know everything there is to know about their use and their time frame.
