There Are Times to Come See Us Between Regular Checkups
Posted on 5/25/2019 by Everwell Dentistry
Your next regular checkup isn't scheduled for a few months, but something is going on in your mouth. You may think that it is fine to just wait it out until your next appointment, but in some cases, you'll want to come in and see us. These are some of those scenarios.
You Have an Unexplained Toothache
If you have a new toothache with constant pain, it is important that you see us right away. Consistent pain is a sign of inflammation in a tooth due to decay, infection, or other issues, and the problem is unlikely to heal on its own. In fact, waiting until your next appointment may only make the problem worse, and by the time that we see you, a minor issue may have turned into a major repair.
A Filling or Crown Falls Off
Fillings and crowns are durable and strong, but once in a while, they do fall out. To protect the rest of the natural tooth, prevent infection, and ease any discomfort, you need to get a new restoration put on in our office.
You Have New Jaw Pain
Many people don't realize that pain in the jaw joint can be from a dental issue. It could be that you've started clenching and grinding your teeth at night, or a cavity might be triggering the pain. If bacteria from the decay travel into the tooth root, jaw pain can result, and you may eventually experience an abscess.
You Chipped, Broke, or Damaged a Tooth
No matter how large or small the damage is, you need to see us if you break a tooth in any way. Prompt treatment can save the tooth and prevent future damage.
Whether you need to see us for one of these issues or you just have to make your next appointment, we are always here to help. Call us today.
The first step to a healthy beautiful smile is to schedule an appointment.
